My new obsession

Recently, I have bitten by the 3D bug!

Normally, well as normal as I can muster, I am a painter. Give me a nice white canvas and I am ready to go. Now things call out to me. Seemingly ordinary things want to be made into objects! Suddenly, I am rummaging through everything, making witches out of oil cans, cutting up leather pants, wooden utensils talk to me! This latest creation let me know this affliction is serious. Have a little look at OAKLEY,BABY OWL. I had a pile of natural sea sponges sitting in my studio.. WWWHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO knew they would want to be an owl!

Tidings of Comfort and Joy

This Holiday season, more than any I recall, the concept of Comfort and Joy is exceptional.
After 3 difficult years of battling my husband's heart condition, the emotional and financial trials that entailed, you might think it is a peculiar time to feel Comfort and Joy. And Yes, we all have our difficult times, so it is not to evoke your sympathy for my own personal trials.

It is easy to dwell on the "bad" things. Harder to find an appreciation for the lessons they teach.

Yesterday morning, over coffee my husband told me that he would be happy when Christmas was over. He went on to say that because we could not afford to do the things we would like to this year, he would be relieved when he didn't have to think about it. As much as it might sound like a Christmas special on the family channel, it got me thinking about the Comfort and Joy in our lives.

We will still spend the holidays with the family and friends, and while the gifts we share this year will not be wrapped in fancy paper and bows, we will give them gifts that will still go away with them. And hopefully last longer.

So our tree started to "stare" at me. The fact that we are waaaaaaaaaaay past the age when presents under a tree should matter, it looked so pitiful and bare with nothing under it's twinkling star covered branches. So, this morning I decided to wrap some empty boxes, not with store bought paper , but with whatever I have. And label each with the GIFTS we really share.

FAMILY, FRIENDS, FAITH, HOPE ,LOVE, RESPECT,COMPASSION, FORGIVENESS, HEALTH, AND YES!!! COMFORT AND JOY.

SO DEAR FRIENDS, I WANTED TO PASS ON MY TIDINGS OF COMFORT AND JOY TO EACH OF YOU THIS HOLIDAY SEASON. MAY YOU SAVOR THOSE YOU HOLD MOST DEAR AND RELISH THE COMFORT AND JOY!

I have recently been asked to repeat a painting I did in the past or to conjure up a painting from the bits and pieces of a vision someone has in their head. I love the challenge.

A long time customer, who collects witch hats, or maybe it's her daughter, anyway, she asked me to do my 3 witch sisters in an up-scale big city Hat shop on a little "Hex in the city" adventure. THAT was big fun. Recently she asked me to start thinking about a "Witch Wedding" as she has a daughter about to be Witch-hitched. But my favorite commissioned painting was for the birth of her grand daughter. A baby witch nursery. (Did I mention, the baby's Mama collects witch shoes?)

Chasing the good life

Someone recently made this statement to me, "the economic crisis has reared it's ugly head,because we all are chasing the good life"

As I see it, the problem is not the chasing, but the definition. There is nothing wrong with striving,reaching,wanting. But we all have the power to live the good life. If we can define what it is. Or what it's not.

It is not a thing, or things,or designer things. A bigger house, a shiny car, or money.Some would say it's family, friends and a general grateful joy of life.

I think it's more. You arrive alone, You leave alone, to whatever is next. So to live the good life, remember yourself.

Today I plan to be the best friend I have, in my opinion only.

Yes, possibly, IF I really understood the concept. If it is just blabbing on and on about nothing,then I could be a world class blogger!

I needed to create this blog, from my limited understanding, to be able to be a "follower" of my friends blogs, my art group blogs and to link my blog to other bloggers blogs.....?????

I am not poking fun at blogging, can't, I am not all that certain what it is really. Is it talking to yourself and then letting others listen in? A place to vent your displeasure, or pleasure at the goings on in the world?

In short, I am certainly not going to LEAD in blogland, I would like to FOLLOW and keep up with my more techno-savvy friends, So..... Now I have the BLOG OUT OF THE WAY!
